The History and Legacy of Aello S/Y
The luxury sailing yacht Aello was designed in 1919 and launched in Hamburg in 1921 by Max Oertz, one of the most renowned German shipbuilders of his time. Oertz built the famous imperial schooners Germany and Meteor IV for Kaiser Wilhelm II. These schooners competed in international regattas. They helped establish prestigious yacht clubs. Aello, the sister vessel of Meteor IV, remains the world’s only surviving schooner designed by Max Oertz. The yacht, Aello S/Y, has competed in legendary classic regattas in Monaco, Cannes, Porto Cervo, and St. Tropez. It also won the Antigua Classic Regatta in 2002 and 2004.
